Central Training Partners Ltd, trading as SBD Academy ("we", "our", "us"), is the controller of personal data described here. This policy covers sbd.school, Pulse portals, and related services (admissions, teaching, communications and payments).

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may process:

  • Identity and contact data: name, email, phone, address (when provided)
  • Enquiry content: messages, course interest, support subjects
  • Guest/student account data: email-first checkout, later profile details, enrolments, attendance and learning progress in Pulse
  • Payment data: processed by Stripe (and finance partners such as Klarna/Clearpay where used). We do not store full card numbers on our servers
  • Technical data: IP address, device/browser data, pages visited, location search demand logs
  • Educator profiles shown publicly only when toggled on for the website in Pulse

3. How we use your information

  • Respond to enquiries and support requests (pipeline leads + communications log)
  • Process payments and fulfil course enrolments
  • Provide learning access, class information and account security via Pulse
  • Improve locations and capacity planning using aggregated search demand
  • Send service messages; marketing only with consent or soft opt-in where lawful
  • Meet legal, accounting and safeguarding obligations

4. Lawful bases

We rely on contract (enrolment and account), legitimate interests (responding to enquiries, securing systems, improving services), legal obligation, and consent where required (certain marketing or special category data).

5. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share data with processors who help us operate (hosting, email/SMS, Stripe, finance partners, analytics) under contracts, and with educators or venues only as needed to deliver your course. We may disclose information if required by law.

6. Retention

Enquiry and communications records are kept while useful for follow-up and compliance. Student records are typically retained for at least 6 years after the end of the learner relationship. Guests who abandon checkout may be removed or anonymised after a reasonable period.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and portability where applicable. Contact us to exercise these rights.
